At the heart of the Wild Atlantic WayThe Falls Hotel & Spa in Clare, is at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way, at the gateway to the Cliffs of Moher & Burren Geopark. Built on the ruins of an O’Brien castle, this glorious Georgian mansion was once the family home of Caitlín MacNamara, who married Dylan Thomas. Today it offers beautifully appointed rooms and a large indoor pool and spa. The hotel’s view of the cascades from the entrance steps is breathtaking, and there are 50 acres of grounds with wonderful riverside and woodland walks to discover.
It is the perfect base from which to enjoy the beauty and to soak up all the wild natural attractions of the area from The Burren & Cliffs of Moher Geopark to Loop Head, and everything in between. The lovely town of Ennistymon is full of personality, and has wonderful restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and galleries. Golfing, surfing and beautiful beach walks are located in Lahinch, just 3km from the hotel. Fishing is available on the grounds of the hotel plus sea angling is available close by. There is a bus service that picks up from the hotel daily and brings guests to Doolin to go to the Aran Islands and then back by the Cliffs of Moher.
Food is served daily in our Dylan Thomas Bar from 12pm – 9pm. Our Cascades Restaurant opens at 6pm and serves dinner until 9pm.
The hotel is a proud member of Green Hospitality, very fitting considering the wonderful area of natural beauty surrounding it. The hotel has a hydro-electric turbine, enabling the hotel is get it’s electricity source from the river running alongside it, reducing massively, it’s dependency on fossil fuels.
The award-winning River Spa is a haven within the Aqua & Fitness Club – a wonderful way to round off a day of sightseeing. It offers a range of treatments from Elemis and Voya. The Club itself has a 20-meter swimming pool, outdoor hot tub and gym, while inside you can enjoy the thermal suite and stunning relaxation room.
The hotel is very much a home open to guests who become firm friends. It is privately owned and managed by the McCarthy Family, so you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome.
